Phoenix Tarantula Rescue (PTR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) (application pending) organization dedicated to rescuing stray, unwanted and abused "pet" tarantulas; providing medical care, shelter, food, safety and adoption to responsible homes. We educate the public regarding wild and pet tarantulas and their important role in our society through articles, public awareness and events to promote humane treatment of tarantulas. There are many exciting medical treatments using tarantula venom to treat types of cancer, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's Disease, heart attack prevention etc. see our website for more information. We also discourage the collection of tarantulas from the wild. Captive-bred tarantulas are an environmentally responsible and healthier alternative.
